Using online tools is not just a convenience, but a necessity for businesses to stay organised and facilitate seamless teamwork. This is particularly true for organizations dealing with large volumes of data daily, particularly those led by decision-makers like CTOs, COOs, or CMOs. Sometimes, data needs to be viewed in a spreadsheet for adhoc analysis that can't be done within the system, or large batches of data need to be imported into the system. For instance, they might need to analyze financial transactions, marketing metrics, operational data, or even specific sectors like accounting. In such scenarios, platforms like Monday.com make the import and export of data to a spreadsheet exceptionally straightforward, making it an ideal tool for businesses. Let us show you how.

Importing Leads into from Excel

Before you begin the process of importing leads from an Excel spreadsheet into Monday, it's absolutely vital to ensure the correct mapping of your Excel document. This critical step involves making certain that the first row of your Excel file contains headers that align with and correspond to the fields in your  board. This is to guarantee an accurate and seamless data transfer, thereby avoiding any errors or confusion.

Once your Excel document is correctly structured, which Monday needs to be able to recognize the data in the file, you can then proceed to import the leads. There are two efficient methods to accomplish this:

  1. The first method involves navigating to your desired board on Monday. Once you are on the designated board, click on the 'three-dot' menu icon located on the top right corner of the interface. From the dropdown menu, select the 'Import' option. A series of prompts will guide you through the process. Select your Excel spreadsheet from your computer and then click 'Import'.
  2. The second method provides an alternative way of importing leads. Click on the dropdown segment of the blue "New Lead" button, which is conveniently located at the top of the Monday board. In the dropdown menu, select the 'Import Leads' option. You will then have the option to either drag and drop your Excel spreadsheet, which is a quick and easy method, or browse your documents to upload the file. After your file is uploaded, click 'Import'.

Both methods will effectively populate your leads into the  board. It should be noted that the second method offers a potentially quicker way to import your leads, especially if you find yourself consistently adding new leads to your boards. It provides a streamlined process for regular lead additions.

Exporting Leads from  to Excel

On the other hand, there may be instances where you wish to export your leads from Monday to an Excel spreadsheet for deeper analysis or for creating comprehensive reports. This can be easily done with a few simple steps. First, navigate to the specific Monday board containing the leads you want to export. Once there, locate the 'three-dot' menu icon, often situated at the top right-hand corner of the board. Click on this icon to open a dropdown menu.

From this menu, select the 'Export' option. This will prompt a new menu to appear. Here, you will see several options for file formats to which you can export your leads. Choose the 'Excel' option. After you make this selection, the system will start preparing your file for download.

This process may take a few moments, so be patient while the system completes the task. Once the download is complete, you can locate the file in your download folder or in the location you've set for downloads.

When you open the Excel file, you'll see that your leads have been neatly organized into rows and columns, mirroring the way they were arranged in your board. This arrangement makes it easy to view and analyze your leads data, offering the flexibility of Excel's tools for sorting, filtering, and organizing data in ways that best suit your needs.
